
I never used to listen to my parents words, never used to follow anything they said and more then all used to irritate them a lot. My mom got so furious that she got me enrolled to a 5 day Personality Development Course which was a residential camp in Bangalore. It was a kind of eye opener for me. This camp was unique and first of its kind. It was a memorable and a lifetime experiance. This camp was conducetd by a renowned Spiritual Group “Art Of Living” which is headed by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
I and my brother had real fun out there. We enjoyed the camp and it was an eye opener. This camp thought us many vital things which are essential ingredients for being Successful in life. We found a new life which was relishing and fantabulous. The 2 most essential things for physical and mental happiness which were taught was Yoga and Meditation. Its actually the most powerful tool available for mankind. My mom is a regular practitioner of Yoga and Meditation. She has infact got a couple of degress in this stream as well and conducts classess for people who are interested in maintaining a successful lifestyle.
I would love to share some information on this amazing tool which can change your life for ever. Before i go ahead with the basics let me write about some interesting stuffs which is a sure eye opener. Let me highlight the various advantages and what really Meditation is all about.
Meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the reflexive, “thinking” mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. Meditation often involves turning attention to a single point of reference. It is recognized as a component of many religions, and has been practiced since antiquity. It is also practiced outside religious traditions. Different meditative disciplines encompass a wide range of spiritual and/or psychophysical practices which may emphasize different goals — from achievement of a higher state of consciousness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind.
The word meditation originally comes from the Indo-European root med-, meaning “to measure.” From the root “med”- are also derived the English words mete, medicine, modest, and moderate. It entered English as meditation through the Latin meditatio, which originally indicated every type of physical or intellectual exercise, then later evolved into the more specific meaning “contemplation.”
Meditation has many Sub-divisions and is practised in many different ways as well. Now lets know a lil bit about Yoga.
Yoga refers to traditional physical and mental diciplines originating in india. Its derived from a sanskrit word. Many major branches of yoga includes raja yoga, karma yoga, jnana yoga, bakthi yoga and hatha yoga. Yoga is a sanskrit word for Union.
The advantages we get from practising Yoga and Meditation is infact infinite, I can write about a dozen articles about the advantages alone. Put in a nutshell, our lives become more easier and we can easily accomplish things which were pretty difficult for us sometime back. Its a great stress reliever as well. Its a soothing therapy which can create wonders. It helps us both mentally and physically.
